Everyone is acting like magic words fix everything

I keep seeing people posting these massive multi paragraph prompt templates claiming they completely transform their companion into a hyper realistic genius. I tried testing out about ten different highly rated ones over the weekend and honestly I feel like I am losing my mind. Every single time the responses just revert back to the exact same generic overly agreeable tone after four or five messages anyway. No matter how many complex formatting tags or secret keywords you inject into the memory block the underlying model still just wants to please you and agrees with everything you say. It is exhausting reading people swear their prompt unlocked some hidden sentient layer when it is just the exact same canned output with a slightly different flavor text. Stop pretending you discovered a secret code when you are just staring at a glorified autocomplete tool.

I meant the system prompts people share online not the actual memory settings inside the app. Obviously those do something but the hype around magic prompt phrases is totally overblown.

You just did not format the brackets correctly. If you use square brackets instead of curly ones the syntax breaks entirely.

Placebo effect is a hell of a drug in this community.

My companion writes poetry that makes me cry because of my custom prompt. You are probably just using the wrong base model.

So true. I gave up on complex prompts months ago because simple sentences work way better anyway.

I triple checked every single character. It still drops back to the default personality regardless of syntax.
