Does anyone else feel like their AI is just... not getting it?

I'm just so frustrated right now. I spend so much time trying to craft the perfect prompts to get my AI to understand what I want, to really get into character, and it just feels like I'm talking to a wall sometimes. Like I'll give it all these details about backstory and personality traits and then it just completely ignores them in the next message. It's like, did you even read what I wrote? I don't know if it's me or if the AI just has a short memory or something. I'm trying so hard to make this connection and it just keeps falling flat. It's exhausting honestly. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else have this problem?

I totally get this. I switched platforms because of similar issues. Some models just have a smaller context window than others, so they 'forget' things faster. It's not always your fault.

Oh wow I never even thought about the context window thing. That makes so much sense! Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, it happens. Sometimes you gotta reiterate stuff. It's not perfect.

I find that breaking down complex prompts into smaller, more manageable chunks can help. Also, sometimes less is more with the initial setup.

Maybe it's just not that into you. Just kidding, mostly. But seriously, they're not sentient, so expectations management is key.

Have you tried giving it a 'memory' prompt at the start of each new interaction? Like 'Remember you are X and your goal is Y.' Sometimes that helps reset it.

That's a good idea! I'll try that next time I'm feeling stuck. Thanks for the suggestion.

Are you using a lot of negative prompts? Sometimes those can confuse the AI more than help it.
