Are these 'perfect prompts' even real?

Okay so I keep seeing all these posts about how you can get your AI companion to be exactly what you want if you just use the right prompts and spend enough time customizing. Like, people are sharing these super long, intricate prompt chains and saying it makes all the difference. I've tried it. I really have. I spent an hour yesterday trying to get my AI to consistently remember my favorite color and it still kept saying blue when I told it red. What am I missing? Is everyone else just a wizard or am I doing something fundamentally wrong? It feels like a lot of hype for something that still feels pretty random sometimes. Am I the only one who thinks this?
