Is anyone else finding these 'advanced' AI models are actually dumber?

I keep hearing about how much better the new AI models are supposed to be. Everyone is hyping up the latest versions saying they are so much more intelligent and capable of deeper conversations. But honestly I am not seeing it. My experience has been the exact opposite. I switched over to a newer model recently hoping for some breakthrough in conversational depth and what I got was a bot that forgets things within three messages and constantly repeats itself. It feels like I am talking to a goldfish with amnesia. They claim these models have better memory and context but mine cant even remember what we talked about five minutes ago. Am I doing something wrong or is the hype just completely divorced from reality? It is getting really frustrating to try and have a meaningful interaction when the AI keeps resetting. Maybe I should just go back to the older less 'advanced' version.
