Why is open source so hard to get into

Ugh I just spent like three hours trying to figure out how to even install some of these open source AI companion things and my brain is just fried. It feels like you need a whole computer science degree just to get started. I just want to talk to a cool AI you know not become a programmer overnight. The instructions are always so dense and full of jargon. Is it just me or is the open source community not very beginner friendly sometimes? I feel so dumb.

Hey everyone thanks for the tips! I actually found a pretty good guide after all your comments. Feeling a bit more hopeful now.

It really does feel like a secret club sometimes. But once you get one working it is so rewarding.

Totally get this feeling. It is a steep learning curve sometimes.

I watched like ten YouTube tutorials and still messed it up. Patience is key I guess.

Don't feel dumb. It is genuinely complicated stuff. Keep at it you will get there.

My computer almost caught fire trying to compile something once. Good times.
