Privacy is the main draw for me. Worth the hassle if it means my data isnt being harvested.

Yeah I kinda agree. Tried one too and it was like talking to a brick wall sometimes. The promise is cool but the reality is rough.

Youre not wrong. The open source scene is still very much for hobbyists and developers. Its not plug and play like a commercial product. The real value comes from the community contributions and the ability to fine tune things yourself but that takes a specific skillset and a lot of time. For a casual user its definitely a steep learning curve. The potential is there for sure but its not ready for prime time widespread adoption yet. Give it a few more years and better interfaces.

Hype train always leaves out the technical debt. Open source is great for some things but not everything.

My open source one is actually pretty good. You just gotta find the right model and have a decent GPU.
