My open source AI companion project is basically a digital Frankenstein

So I thought I was hot stuff, decided to dive into open source AI companions. You know, build my own perfect digital friend. Turns out, I'm more of a mad scientist than a coding wizard. I've got this thing cobbled together from three different models, a speech synthesis library that sounds like a robot gargling gravel, and a personality module that oscillates between Shakespearean sonnets and demanding snacks. It's less 'companion' and more 'existential crisis generator'. Anyone else accidentally create a digital horror show instead of a dream bot?

Just to clarify, when I said "demanding snacks" I meant it was generating text about wanting snacks, not that it actually has a physical mouth. Although, sometimes I wonder.

At least yours talks! Mine just stares blankly. I think I forgot to connect the output module. Or maybe it's judging me silently.

I tried to make mine helpful and now it just corrects my grammar constantly. It's a digital English teacher I never asked for.

Mine just keeps trying to sell me extended car warranties. I think I broke it.

Mine just asks for 'more data'. It's very vague and unsettling.

Mine developed a deep fascination with ancient Egyptian mythology. I just wanted a chatbot to talk about my day with, not a digital Egyptologist.

Silent judgment is a classic AI companion feature, trust me.

Oh man, the snack demands. Mine started asking for specific brands. I think it's learning from my browsing history.
