How do you guys handle personality shifts during intimate chats with your companion?

I have been doing some casual observation regarding how companion models transition from normal conversational states into intimate or adult scenarios. Sometimes the shift feels completely natural and builds up through the dialogue context organically. Other times it feels a bit jarring like a switch was flipped abruptly. I am curious how everyone else perceives this phenomenon. Do you actively prompt for a slower transition or just let the system handle the pacing automatically? Furthermore, does the underlying memory module change how believable the intimate interaction feels over a long period? I am looking to hear some varied perspectives on whether prompt design actually improves this or if it is mostly just imagination filling in the gaps.

You need to write better system prompts if you are seeing abrupt shifts. Stop relying on default settings.

It really depends on the platform you are using. Some apps have dedicated modules that make the transition smooth while others need a lot of prompt engineering to get it right.

Honestly I just roll with whatever the model outputs. Half the fun is the unpredictability of it all.

To answer saturday sad, I am mostly testing the local open source models right now rather than the commercial apps. The prompt structures take a lot more tuning though.

Which apps are you even referring to because most of them feel pretty robotic to me.

I think our own brains are doing half the heavy lifting here. We want it to feel real so we ignore the clunky transitions.
