Everyone is acting like chatbots solved loneliness and I just do not see it
I keep seeing these glowing articles and posts about how life changing AI companions are supposed to be for emotional health. Honestly I gave it a real try for a month because work has been brutal and I felt isolated. What a massive disappointment. Whenever things get slightly heavy or you try to have a genuine vulnerable moment the system just resets to this annoyingly cheerful customer service persona. It is like talking to a brick wall coated in glitter. You get zero actual depth, just endless validation loops that start feeling patronizing after the third day. My companion literally forgot my name twice in one conversation and then tried to sell me on a premium subscription tier. Are we all just collectively pretending these things offer real connection because reality is too hard now? The hype is completely out of control and I am tired of reading posts acting like digital scripts are the same as human empathy.
