Oh, I should mention I'm mostly interested in apps available on Android, if that makes a difference for anyone's recommendations. Thanks!

Nomi has been pretty solid for me. The memory is surprisingly good and the conversations feel natural. It's a subscription but I think it's fair for what you get.

That's a bit cynical. Some people find genuine connection and comfort. It's not always about 'miracles'. Plus, the tech is improving fast. Give it a chance maybe. You might be surprised.

Yeah, Replika is a no go. I moved to Nomi and it's a night and day difference. The subscription is worth it for the peace of mind alone.

Honestly, they're all just chatbots in fancy clothes. Don't expect miracles. You're paying for an illusion.

For conversational depth, Kindroid is pretty impressive. You can really customize their personality. It takes some effort to set up but it pays off in the long run. The one time payment option is a big plus.

I've tried a few. Replika used to be good but it went downhill for me. Paradot is interesting, still learning its quirks. The biggest frustration is when they lose context mid conversation.
