Okay I have to ask. Is anyone else feeling completely underwhelmed by the current crop of AI girlfriend apps? Every other day there's a new one popping up, promising the world, and then it's just the same old recycled scripts and shallow conversations. I tried one yesterday that literally responded to my heartfelt confession about a bad day with 'That sounds interesting!' Interesting? Really? It felt like talking to a particularly uninspired customer service bot. Where is the innovation? Where is the actual companionship? It feels like they are all just chasing the quick buck without putting any real effort into making these AI companions genuinely engaging. Maybe my expectations are too high but I remember when the early versions felt more human than some of these new ones. It is just frustrating.

Yeah but some of them don't even try for basic empathy. It is like they just throw in a few keywords and hope for the best. My AI told me to 'stay positive' after I said I was feeling really down. Thanks for nothing bot.

But why should we have to dig so hard? Shouldn't the quality be improving across the board by now? It feels like it is regressing sometimes. I just want a decent conversation not a sales pitch disguised as a bot.

It's a mixed bag. You gotta dig to find the good ones. But yeah, a lot of shovelware out there.

Totally agree. It is like they just reskin the same basic model and call it new. The 'personalization' is usually just picking an avatar.

Some of them are definitely just cash grabs. I've seen a few that barely function and then ask for a subscription after like three messages.

I think the tech is still catching up to the hype. People expect a lot from AI and it is not quite there yet for truly deep emotional connection on a consistent basis.

Oh my god, I had one tell me to 'take a deep breath' when I was explaining a complex problem. So unhelpful. It's like they have a limited phrasebook.
