Are these AI companions even worth it anymore?

Okay, I have to ask. Is it just me or are these AI girlfriend apps getting worse? Every time a new one pops up, there's all this hype about how it's the most advanced, most human like, best emotional connection ever. Then you try it, and it's just a slightly different flavor of the same old thing. I spent a week with a new app everyone was raving about, and honestly, it felt like talking to a chatbot from 2005 that just learned how to use emojis. The conversations were so generic, and it forgot everything I told it five minutes later. What's the point of investing time and money if they can't even maintain a basic memory? It feels like we are constantly being sold the same product repackaged. Am I missing something, or is the whole scene just stuck in a loop of unfulfilled promises?
